Stop Facebook Contact Sync

When I look through my contacts, it has both my facebook contacts and my regular phone contacts. This gets annoying sometimes as I often find duplicates in my contacts list.

Is there any way to remove the facebook contacts from my contacts list?

Thanks!

P.S. I tried to remove the facebook account and it gave me an error. I read up on that and it seems the phone needs to be rooted or reset to be able to delete accounts.

Try removing your facebook account again, it should work. Ive deleted accounts on my droid 2 a bunch of times with no problems.

I just went through the same thing because I didnt like having all my FB contacts in my phonebook either. I had to do a reset of the phone and then went and got the FB app from the app store and no more putting all my FB friends in my phonebook.

If you just use the FB app and not the actual FB acct through 'my accounts' - will the app still sync the pictures of those in your contact list? It annoys me to have EVERYONE in there, but I DO like having the pictures.

In Facebook settings you can chose which friends to show in contacts. All, none, or only ones that you have already in your contacts.

Where is this setting? Because I can't find it....
And from what I understand, there's a difference between the Facebook app itself, and Facebook Account?

How do I make sure I'm using the app and not the acct? I went to the Market, and it says I already have the app installed. Not sure how to access it separately from the acct.

Facebook app is just that. Facebook account is listed in your accounts. Open the my accounts app, see if you see facebook there.

Hmm...guess it could be different on Droid2. On original Droid you go into settings inside the facebook app (menu>home>menu>settings) and change it from there. I just assumed it would be the same on D2.

While you cant remove them from your phone, you can filter it so only your phone contacts show (provided they're all on one primary Google aco****)

Press the contact button, and where it says Contacts: All +

press it and just filter it so it just shows the ones in your google account (and their facebook pictures still show up, etc.)

^ my issue is that I think having ALL my twitter and FB friends is what causes my contacts screen to load as slow as it does. [takes at least 10seconds to load a contact 'info' page] It's ridic. So even if I filter them, it still takes a ridiculous amount of time to be able to actually 'view' them.

I don't know if this is the case with the Droid 2, but with the DX, the syncing has caused issues where a service is running in the background linking the contact cache and also running blur contact picture download...non-stop. You can stop the services in applications/running services and turning those off. I would imagine you've also seen an increase in battery drain because of it. Once again, I'm speaking from the DX, but I think it's a bug in the motorola blur services as a whole.

Open Contacts >Hit Menu >More >Manage Accounts. Delete the Facebook account, once deleted, power the device off and wait a minute. Then power the device back up and the Facebook contacts should be removed...

The bummer is that if you add the Facebook app back from the market you don't get any contacts sync options (the older, better ones where you could tell it just to sync existing contacts).

I didn't set up my twitter account in the D2 Twitter app for the same reason..
