As the device is GSM based I'm guessing the device works as mobile defense or wavesecure works. With receiving an SMS message the device sends a remote start to the car.

That won't work on any car with an RF immobilizer chip embedded in the key. If you don't use a key that's been paired to the system, it will crank but not kick over.
