For you coffee drinkers out there, especially if you are a fan of Starbucks, your Android smartphone can now make paying for your "coffee and scone" much easier. Even without any NFC technology, this handy little Starbucks app allows you to pay for your breakfast or snack by bringing up a barcode for the store's barista to scan. Furthermore, you can even "fund" your digital Starbucks card through the app itself. You need a phone with Android 2.1 or newer for the app to work. The video above shows the app in action.

I have had a Starbucks app that let me pay by scanning my phone screen for 6 months. It keeps track of points for freebies and gets me free refills. I read a press release in a few other places like this thing was brand new?
