I spilled coffee on my phone this morning and the volume buttons are acting screwy. My volume up button keeps pressing on its own and not responding to actual presses. Any ideas on fixing it?
I have tried taking a q-tip with water on it and wiping the volume rocker down and then drying it out. That fixed it for about 15 minutes, but then volume up stopped responding to presses again and started going up on its own. Should I try rubbing alcohol (since I have successfully used it to fix drowned phones before)?
I can't afford to pay the $100 for an insurance replacement right now, but I use the phone as an mp3 player while at work and cannot have the phone blasting me at full volume through my headphones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I would power off the phone and try a little rubbing alcohol, try pressing the volume down so the volume up raises up a bit and try and clean under it.

Thanks!

I will try that as soon as I pick up a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Will report back later.

Alcohol was successful! No more random volume increases and button is now responding!

Ok, so now the hdmi port is acting screwy, too. Same idea, or would it be better to try to have verizon sort it out?

Could try and put some on the end of a trimmed down q tip.
