Sort Contacts

I have a Droid X from Verizon. I have searched the web but have not found an easy way to sort my contacts by last name first. My Google contacts are sorted in that way but they synch to the Droid and sort by first name.

I might be wrong, but I dont think there is a way to get it to sort the contacts by anything other than First Name, Last Name.
