Dan Rosenberg (who made motofail for GB) has a root exploit that works for all versions of ICS so I wouldn't be worried about getting root once the official OTA comes.

2 things. Dan quit making Moto root exploits. And the exploit was patched on the Atrix HD. So, we have to be careful.

In that case hopefully Moto isn't delaying the Bionic ICS to close the hole, but I highly doubt it. We'll see, if they do then you Bionic guys will really get the shaft (again).

They didn't with 238. But there's no guarantee they won't when the OTA drops. They didn't for you guys but your build is from end of July....

You won't even be able to install ICS with forever root installed. Root can be installed, and voodoo rootkeeper can be used to keep it but the forever root hack breaks the update assertion and must be undone else it fails to install.

So, to install ICS, I will have to restore back to an unrooted build, OTA update from there to 905. Then receive the ICS OTA when it is pushed?

As I said, you can be rooted, you just have to revert the changes to mount_ext.sh to remove the forever root hack. You'll lose root when you apply the ICS update, but, voodoo rootkeeper can restore it or you can just use motofail-ics to root your ics build. But as long as everything else is "stock" you can just install ICS once you revert the forever root changes.

Cause VZW techs ALWAYS know what they're talking about. Someone else reported that the tech told them ICS would never be released for the Bionic. So, um, take whatever they tell you with a dump truck full of salt.
