Something official should come today

It does seem strange that we aren't seeing any Bionic adverts on television. It makes me think that they've really decided that the Bionic won't be their flagship device for long and spending millions on advertising isn't worth it in the long run.

I just recall seeing the original Droid advertisements on tv like every hour when we were getting close. So maybe we just aren't "close" enough yet to the Bionic release.

I'm honestly confused by all of this, no advertising, lack of updates for release date/hardware choices. It all seems a bit odd that a device that Motorola was banking on is really a sort of hushed device now, except for in the droid community of course.

I guess we'll just have to wait it out and hope for the best, my original droid serves me well, but I'd just like something new to be honest, rarely do I keep tech for such a long period, but I've yet to find a device that I felt was a worthy upgrade.

If this thing launches like the D3 did, everyone at Motorola's and verizon's marketing department needs to be shot, end of story, people who don't think this phone is going to be a big step up are either on another network or have been drinking a lot of X2, D3, TB or Charge koolaid

The first three are differences indeed but not something that I would quantify as better for everyone. Just choices to be made, not terribly earthshattering as far as setting one phone apart from another.

And I pondered the CES thing, but quite honestly everyone has to put forth something that is cutting edge at the show. certainly had the original time track worked out that might have given more creedance.

And I am having a hard time defining flagship. The D1 was certainly what could be called a flagship, as it pulled Moto up from nowhere. I do not remember the exact number of months before the D1 was end-of-the lined, but I do remember thinking that did not take long. And I had my D1 just a few days after launch. And the rate these phones are being pumped out by everyone, perhaps the flagship for a trip across lake Michigan, but certainly not the Atlantic.

I am sure there will be some marketing, but I have to believe that VZW would love to see as many of the old inventory phones move before shutting those folks down. I guess the trick is to wiggle it in just ahead of the competition, so as to not cut your own throat.

But, I am guessing that by the sheer number of folks who have been patiently awaiting this device ( and stacking up the threads here), there will a much larger hacking community involvement with the Bionic, more so than the rest of the fragmented Android experience. Which I eagerly await for my next phone, be it the D3 or the Bionic. It's going to be one or the other methinks at this point.

Ever since the x2 came out I hated the pixelation. You can probably find all my post complaining out it. The D3 is not immune but it looks light years better. I don't know if it it because of the smaller screen than the x2 but it seems they did a better job imo.

They have to realize that the majority of the Original Droid owners are awaiting this device to renew their 2 year contract. I just don't see how that isn't insanely important to their business.

If they do know this, then wouldn't it be wise to keep people on the hook with a few updates about hardware/specs. All we've received is a Summer release date and the only people who they've sent test units to apparently let their 3 year olds take pictures of the Bionic test unit with cell phone cameras from 1994.

Nothing feels right about this phone, it's odd. I want it, but man does it smell of fail.

I just felt like the Bionic was the revival of Droid, as the D2 DX DX2 ect... they've all been just stepping stones. Nothing changing the way we use our phones, which Bionic technically has.

The Bionic has 4g LTE which is a big deal, as a lot of areas are being covered now.

We have a front facing camera, which is a much desired feature.

We've lost the physical keyboard, which many people were looking forward to losing who had the OG.

We're gaining a dual core CPU, which when properly used by software will be an incredible increase in performance.

The Bionic is really changing the game for Motorola Droid users and for it not to receive at least similar advertising as the OG, it just adds a strange feeling to the whole thing.

I do agree with you that they aren't introducing Droid to the world again, like they were with the original Droid.

But I still feel like if they'd throw their weight behind this device, we could feel a bit more excited about it, as I feel we should be.

Amazon outs Motorola Droid Bionic desktop dock, car dock

Might we be getting our best look at the Motorola Droid Bionic here, from Amazon? If a pair of product pages are to be believed, we most certainly are. And is that a chrome ring we see around the phone?
At the left is the desktop dock, which is billed as "A station with an extra sense. With ESP technology, you decide which apps and short cuts to keep on your home screen and the dock remembers." In addition to charging the phone, it's also got a 3.5mm audio jack for outputting music, or taking calls.
And on the right is the vehicle navigation dock with rapid vehicle charger. It's also said to have that same ESP technology, which really is just a fancy way for saying the phone knows when it's docked and will switch to car mode -- just like other docks.
No pricing or release listed on either, though you can sign up to be notified when they're available.

Has to be the best picture I've yet to see of the Bionic. The others have looked pretty terrible, but this looks very sleek. It almost looks like a photoshopped version, but one would have to assume that they needed the device prior to designing the docking unit.

Edit: Although I am hoping that is like brushed aluminum and not a ::ew:: chrome ring.

Edit 2: Can I say though, that this has me re-enthused about this phone. Click on the photo to be amazed btw.

^Yea....clicking on the pic shows it closer. That silver ring is something I dont think we've seen before.

This has totally changed my view of this phone's appearance, incredible.

Think I may have to go without a case on this one, it's that sleek looking. Screen protector of course, but naked, straight naked.
