theres a very well written walk through in the sticky on the droid 2 global forum .. i suggest reading and re-reading it and maybe re-reading it again if needs be .. everything ive learned .. ive learned from these forums .. and a little help from some of the very knowledgable people around here .. mostly the GRD team .. and a few others ..

I actually rooted with z4. A month ago, then I downloaded koush's bootstrap and backed up every thing. But I have no idea how to put a custom rom -_-

if youre looking to rom your d2g .. i would suggest starting with fission...
use the link below and follow the instructions to the T...

Install Instructions and Downloads | Team DeFuse

after playing with fission for a while .. you will get a better understanding on how to rom and theme your phone to the way you feel more comfortable with it .. then move onto Get~R~Done section of the forums and read re-read and re-read again all their stickies and mess around with their stuff for a while.

Also I would suggest if you havent already .. get VERY comfortable with sbf and rsdlite... cant count how many times ive had to sbf my phone back to factory state. along with the proper sbf and rsdlite 4.9 you will need the latest motorola drives that you can find on their website.

Good luck and happy romming .. if you need help.. you can always pm me and i will try and help you the best i can . Im no genius to the android system .. just a helpful newb that has spent quite a bit of time getting to know his d2g....
