So I had this issue with my RAZR MAXX that my screen would apparently turn itself on and show the lock screen after I had recently locked it. It was relatively annoying but it wasn't too hard to just press the lock button again.
However, it struck me as odd that the screen never randomly turned on after locking it again. Naturally I assumed that it had something to do with me putting the phone down. First instinct was that the power button was getting hit in such a way when I was putting the phone down that it turned on.
As with any situation in which the suspected problem is a loose or accidentally pressed button I proceeded to strike the phone near the power button in every angle possible at varying strengths. This yielded nothing.
Next I assumed it was a software issue but that didn't satisfy me. So I decided to really pay attention when I put the phone down again.
I locked the phone and started the motion to put my phone down. As my hand/phone complex neared the night stand I instinctively moved my grip further and further down the phone until I held it between my fingers at the soft key portion of the phone and set it down.
That's when it hit me. I had inadvertently been touching the home button whilst it was still active and been turning the phone back on. Needless to say I felt foolish.
Tl;dr: The home capacitive button is still active for a few moments after locking and I was accidentally touching it while setting down my phone. Which turned my phone on again.
AKA: I'm stupid.
