Razr Power Button Issues

Ok so my power button physically "works" fine, but it's starting to aggravate me. About 90% of the time when my screen is off, and I press the power button to bring it to the unlock screen, the screen will come on just for a split second, then back off, forcing me to hit the power button again. It doesn't always do this, but does it more than not. And it's very aggravating becuase, out of habit, I'll be already trying to scroll the screen to unlock and it's already turned itself back off. If not that, I'll try to anticipate it and go ahead an hit the button twice, and naturally it doesn't mess up when i do this and therefore all I have done is turned my screen on and then back off. Anybody else have this issue and find a cause for it?

No root by the way or anything out of the ordinary. The physical "press" of the button seems to be fine. It's got me stumped.

I thought that too, I have an Otterbox Defender. The button seems to press fine though, and not "double-press." I'll try it for awhile with the cover off and see if it persists.

Does the same thing for me but in reverse, I have a Ottorbox Commuter case on. When I am going to turn the screen off by pressing the power button it will flash off then back on and I have to press again.

I think many users experience this, the power button is loose and can render double presses at times (I think).

Mine is also suffering the same minor disturbance. It catches me off-guard often but I just chock it up to fate and press again. It also doesn't happen every time and for the life of me I can't see any kind of pattern. I had contemplated the same possibility as Sydman but my button is only 3 months old so I think it may be more OS related than mechanical.

I think my case causes my issue (button is recessed into the case a bit) , but yes it happens to me 75% of the time... :(

While it is a minor annoyance, it it still seems to be a much more universal occurrence than anyone thought. I would be concerned that down the road as these phones age, the problem possibly could get worse or may even lead to other problems. This is definitely something Moto should be aware of and I bet they are not...

Possibly ICS could fix this (if it is a software issue)? :)

I'm thinking it may be OS related also as my phone is only 3 months old too. While yes it is only a minor problem it does tend to get aggravating. And it seems to also be more widespread than I thought. Just hoping it doesn't lead to bigger problems in the future.
