Yea, verizon didnt email us a few days before 2.01 dropped. They wont about this I wouldn't think. No mention of it on thier website yet.

Has anyone actually confirmed there will be a version for the droid in a few days? I thought it was vzon pushing the update so they could add their badges to it.

As I posted in one of the other threads, no official announcement from Google or Verizon would refer to Android Market as the "app store".

How in the world someone got an email from a forum mixed up with an email from Verizon/Google amazes, annoys, and baffles me. I thought there was an actual official confirmation about a 2.1 update for the Droid out there.

Yes, just got this email as well. And it's from here, not Verizon.

Excited about 2.1 though, wonder how long we will have to wait before Verizon officially puts it out?

the update prolly wont happen for another few weeks at the earliest.

2.1 will be open sourced in a couple of days.

That's the android base code though, individual manufacturers will have to include software for the actual hardware (like bluetooth/wireless/LEDs), then from there it's up to the service providers to push the updates out to retail handsets.

If you're on an ADP or rooted device, you can build your own firmware soon. : )

No email on 2.01, likely none on 2.1. I would assume they will start to slide it out around MLK Bday. I think it took a week or so last time for everyone to get the update. Something to look forward to.....
