SMS backup restore from .db file?

I have a rooted Bionic. I used SMS Backup & Restore before doing a factory reset (my phone was refusing to connect to data service, which was a weeklong headache that resulted in reset), but for some reason it made a .db file called "Backup-date.db" instead of an xml file like I'm used to. Now I reinstalled SMS Backup, but it won't restore from the .db file. Any ideas?

Here I suggest a free way, you could have a try.
AST Android SMS Transfer could backup sms messages in a DB file, but their free version only could backup 10 messages on the android phone. And no limitations on restoring text messages.
