Is there a way this can be disabled in the Verizon Note 3?
It makes it impossible to discreetly turn the phone on without
a ridiculous jingle/noise.

More bloat were that is totally unnecessary.
Thanks Samsung/Verizon.

Speaking of bloatware, I have never see so much crap pre-installed on a phone. I would love to root but have absolutely no experience doing so, and do not want to lose the BENEFICIAL features of this phone.

That's an easy one. You have to have Root to do this, but just go into systems/media/audio/ui find the item that reads PowerOn.ogg. A couple of things you can do, I suggest moving it to your SD card and out of the systems/media/audio/ui file altogether. If your hesitant to do that you can change the file name to PowerOn.ogg.bak or change the Permissions to check every box which will disable the sound effect. But that's easiest way to get rid of that annoying sound or just turn off your system volume.

Thanks KaChow.... I can't believe I forgot about the
Systems toggle in the Sounds menu... that did the trick, although I now have to go back and the volume up if I want to hear my music!
Samsung really has loaded this phone up with silly, totally unnecessary junk. I am a bit apprehensive to root... bought then phone, don't want to brick it.
