The struggling (yet still powerful) Japanese tech company, Sharp just announced they have begun mass producing a new true full HD 5-inch phone display. Their display will come at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and include 443 PPI. This is the highest pixel density ever achieved by a smartphone. For reference the current highest density phones are not iPhones. They are the Sony Xperia V, Xperia S, and HTC Rezound with a 340 PPI density.
There's a rumor to go along with this story. Supposedly, the first couple of devices we will see wielding this gorgeous new display tech will be the HTC One X 5, (which is likely the Google Nexus 5), and the Oppo 5-inch phone. We will bring you more details as they become available.
