Setting notification sounds

New Member
Hi, I am a newbie so I apologize in advance if this is supposed to be posted in tech support, but I think it's fine here. Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to have different notification sounds for different events. I always use different ring tones for different people (as an way of caller ID without having to look at the phone) and on my Blackberry I had different sounds for calendar events and text messages recevied - however on the DRoid X it seems that both calender reminders and text messages have to share the same sound.

Q:
Is that right?

Q2:
Is there an App that fixes this?

Thanks!

Sure. I have a Droid so my experience my be different. I open the app, say Gmail, tap menu, tap settings, tap notifications, and select a ringtone and vibrate. I do that for texting, PM's and for contacts.

Hope this is helpful

Each app usually has it's own notification settings. There is not a global notifications area in android for all apps.

Handcent SMS allows you to set different notification tones for each of your contacts so you will know who it is when they text you.
