Separated Contacts after JB update

After installing the JB update on the Razr Maxx HD, one of my customer's contacts separated, in other words, if a contact has 3 emails and 4 phone numbers the contact is now listed 7 times--1 for each contact. It appears that it is only contacts who are listed with gmail addresses. I have never seen this before.

Tried a factory reset--same thing happened when he put his gmail back in (he has everything synced to his gmail).

Any ideas??
