"SD card blank" - is there a fix?

This error message appeared when I hooked up to the USB port to try and clear some data (near capacity, unable to d/l a .PDF from my webmail.) So now neither the Droid X or the PC is recognizing the SD card... searched the forums a bit and saw that this may be a defect with the stock SD card that came with the DX. Was wondering if anyone out there was able to rescue their SD card if they experienced the same problem?

Can you not clear data directly from the phone?

Nah, it's just faster through the USB. Plus I'd probably be replacing some of it with new media from the hard drive. Anyhow, VZW gave me a new MicroSD as it was under warranty, I didn't find a fix.
