My friend has an older droid and said she was able to take screen shots using the "home button" + "power button" I've tried this multiple time and no results. Is there another way to do this for the Droid Razr?

Things like taking a picture of a full conversation and games, do those require apps? Or can I manually do it from my phone?

There are apps in the Play Store that sometimes work without root on certain phones. Perhaps she has one of these apps on a compatible phone. But there is no stock way to take screenshots on Gingerbread.

It's not gingerbread, it is the phone. My Droid charge, which has gingerbread, is able to take screen shots by pushing the back & home button simultaneously. It is a feature of that phone...without having to install any additional app.
