Screen problem

I have an originaly Droid. I've only had it since May. I've tried the factory reset and taking the battery out. I've pretty much tried everything I can do, but it takes a couple of tries hitting the lock button for the screen to finally turn on. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Having that with my 2 yr old OGD but mine is due to the button failing. Have you tried sliding the keyboard open? That turns on the screen all the time.

yeah i've tried that but it still takes a couple times i have to slide it open and then hit the lock button a couple times for the screen to come on
