Screen dims but won't turn off

My screen dims at timeout but doesn't turn off. I've tried changing timeout setting and have done a restart. It just started this behavior a week ago and I didn't change anything before it started. If I forget to hit the button to turn it off, it eventually drains the battery. Any ideas?

Are you rooted, running a custom ROM? If so what ROM?

Thanks for the reply. My phone is stock with a few added apps. I don't even know what rooted or ROM means. I did not made any changes or add new apps prior to the odd behavior.

And for being specific... The display timeout is set at 1 minute. At 1 minute the screen dims, but does not turn off. Not sure if that helps, but not sure how else to describe the problem.
