Screen cracked underneath glass, want to backup prior to sending in for repairs

These are the conditions in which I need to fix the phone

• I obviously can't use the Samsung Galaxy 4 very well with the touch screen, not functioning
• All of the other buttons are working correctly
• I can plug it into my computer and view the phone's 16 GB Hard drive
• Texts and contacts are most important
• The phone can't be rooted I don't want to void my warranty, I just bought it last month

Any other information you'd like to know I will try and provide it for you. Hopefully one of you tech guys find this problem intriguing enough to solve this puzzle, lol.
