Screebl vs. No Screebl

I know that there are a lot of us that love Screebl, but today I began to wonder if I actually need it.

I am in the habit of always turning the screen off when I am done using the phone. As such, even if I set the auto-timer to 1 minute, I rarely ever have a situation where the phone remains on more than a few seconds after use.

So the question I'm asking is...for a person like me, is Screebl really neccessary? I'm noticing that on my Incredible it has a reading error with the battery usage of the phone, so it is causing some issues in seeing what battery killers I have.

If, in fact, you habitually turn off your phone as soon as you're done and don't mind dealing with timeouts while you're using the phone, Screebl is doing nothing for you other than to use resources you don't have to use.

Now that I've reached an age when I habitually forget I have a phone in my hand, I find Screebl to be very useful. :)

Different folks is what makes the world go around.;) I would go absolutely mad without Screebl. It's probably my most important app.

i keep screebl just to keep the screen timeout at 15 sec and so i can read emails and webpages without it turning off.

yes this too

screebl is not only for turning off the screen, it also keeps it from turning off when you are using it

I doubt it uses hardly any resources anyways

IMHO, its a must have

it really doesnt use much of anything. battery is the same whether i have it installed or not. phone runs just as smoothe whether its installed or not. under battery use its either not on there at all or at like 2% usage. its a great app!

Agreed... I would go batty without it... Maybe its me... But the screen shutting off when I'm trying to use the dialpad while on a call was almost a dealbreaker... so annoying.

Solorka, like you, I turn the phone off whenever I put it down. My timeout setting is "never". My wife thinks screebl keeps her brightness and timeout settings from resetting as they often do, but mine doesn't work the same way for some reason.

Screebl doesn't help me at all.

I've gotten into the habit of putting the Droid to sleep immediately after using it. Screebl is on my phone as a convenience to handle the screen timeouts. Any battery life savings is probably minimal with Screebl given my habit.
