Saving data from a hard reset?

I am thinking about doing a hard reset of my phone just to start over and get rid off all the unused apps and bits of stuff that may be taking up space on my phone. What's need is an easy aw to save all of my text messages from deletion, does Verizon's backup service do this?
Something else I need is a way to save some game data and progress. I have a game called Agent Dash and I would really like to keep all of the power ups and upgrades that I have got so far. Is there any easy way to do this that anyone knows of?

Thank you so much!

+1 for Helium. But at this time it will not backup settings from the apps. They do have plans for that for rooted devices,

Doesn't the resound have an microsd card? Usually game data is saved to the card. But yes helium should work with any non rooted device.

My Backup does save data & settings and works if you are not rooted.
