Sapphire display to android?

After watching this video by MKB on the iPhone 6 sapphire crystal display I could not help but be impressed. In fact I am hoping we can see a similar display work its way to android. What do you think can we see the next line of android devices sporting a similar display?

Apple continues to innovate. I am very impressed. I wonder how MKB got his hands on that; it seems as if Apple has some serious issues with keeping things under wraps lately.

They've been talking about sapphire displays for awhile now. Last I heard the expense was a bit high but they must've worked that out?

I'm not sure I'd call that innovating since Sapphire glass already exists. They are just using it on the upcoming iPhone 6. Motorola looks to be using it on their Moto360 watch.

As for the use of sapphire glass, I'd love it. My family and I went to the beach yesterday and I got the first couple of tiny scratches on my M8's screen. Bummer =(. I want to see how the sapphire glass protects against sand. The metal of keys and knives isn't as hard as gorilla glass so it annoys me when they are used to try to scratch screens. Sand is something that tends to get in peoples pockets. Use that!

This will definitely push other manufacturers to use higher quality glass, but in the end I don't know if it makes that much of a difference. To me it seems like it'll just be another thing for people to nitpick at and compare with, at least until Android phone manufacturers adopt it.

At this point in time, I don't see the point at this time. If it drives up the cost of the device, I really don't see the point. I expect minor scratches etc. on my devices. A simple screen protector can help me with this. In no way will I ever wear out enough screen protectors to equal the cost of a display ( I even take my phone up cell phone towers when I work). This new display, IMO, doesn't make Apple any more special, though Kudos for them for taking a step Android OEMs have not yet (usually this is not the case).

My mind can always be changed, but as of right now, I'll take my Corning Gorilla Glass. I don't need to throw my phone against the ground to prove how awesome the screen is.
