Not only is Samsung gobbling up 95 percent of the global profits from Android, they are well on their way to setting an all time high sales record with their Galaxy S4. Despite having been on sale for less than a month, CEO JK Shin reports that the handset will reach the 10 million mark very soon. Speaking at a conference in Seoul, South Korea, Shin told reporters, “We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the Galaxy S3." This is quite astounding seeing that it took the Galaxy S3 two (2) months to reach 10 million sales (which is very impressive), and the Galaxy S2 took almost five (5) months to do the same.

A report earlier this year showed Samsung had ordered enough components to build 10 million Galaxy S4 phones per month. Perhaps they may have knew a thing or two about the popularity of this device before it hit consumers hands , or it just all may be coincidence. Regardless, the early success is quite a feat. Congratulations Samsung on a job well done.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but since I can't control my ability to do so (according to my wife ;))...

I believe this turned out to be 10m handsets sold to carriers, etc. - not 10m handsets sold to end users. Still good, but it's being spun in the media as if they've sold 10m devices into people's hands.

Galaxy S4: 10M in 4 weeks. iPhone 5: 5M in 3 days. - Apple 2.0 -Fortune Tech

Its still devices sold. You think carriers are going to keep ordering them if they aren't going to sell them? Also, your link, iPhone 5 sells 5M in 3 days...there is only one maker of iPhones. There are plenty of different Android devices. The HTC One just came out and is selling well. The Galaxy S3 is still selling well. Several people in my wife's family waited for the S4 to come out to get the S3 after a price drop. Lastly, a lot of iPhone users skipped the iPhone 4S because it was a minimal upgrade. All in all, Samsung is whooping the competition all over the place.

I agree completely, but the reason this is news is because it's being put out there as if it's selling at record speeds to users. Selling 10m handsets to users is completely different that the massive batch orders that come from carriers, retailers, etc. - and using that as a premise for the idea that "it's selling so fast!" is a bit misleading, at least in my crazy mind.

And ignore the title of that one article - I simply linked to it because they mention the S4-to-carrier sales and link to that second article, not because of the iPhone comparison.

Yes, but a lot of those phones Sammy shipped were pre-orders so the numbers may not be that far off. That also may be why we aren't yet seeing the 32GB phone.

Would love to purchasr

And to think that it's not even on Verizon yet:icon_eek:

I have Verizon as well and waiting with baited breath as my contract is up. Going to hold off though for the 32gb or 64gb. Don't think I should lock myself into another 2 years for something inferior when they already have a better unit available and just holding it up for sales numbers. Would be different if we knew they weren't building a new model for another year or so but the head of Samsung said 64gb already available in a news briefing.
