
At the beginning of April, we shared a rumor that Samsung was working on a device called the Galaxy Gear Solo. It is basically a Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, but it has 3G capabilities for making stand-alone cellular calls as well as serving as a data connection.
Some new intel has presented itself from the Wall Street Journal. They claim to have confirmed that Samsung is working on a stand-alone smartwatch which will be able to make phone calls, and that it will be revealed by the company in June or July. The WSJ didn't specifically confirm the Galaxy Gear Solo name, but the basic gist of the device was the same. They further confirmed the previous rumor suggesting the device will come with the Tizen OS from Samsung.
According to their report, Samsung is already in talks with various carriers in the US, Europe and South Korea to market the device. We will continue top keep you updated on this potentially exciting new product.
