Several rumors lately have suggested that Samsung could be planning to bring their YOUM flexible display tech in a wrap-around forum factor to the Galaxy Note 4. The latest leaked images of that device contradict that theory.

That doesn't mean that Sammy isn't working on a device with that particular display tech, and their newest trademark filing could be a clue as to which device will receive it. Samsung is filed for a "Galaxy Note Edge" trademark, which will obviously be some variant of the Galaxy Note 4. Current speculation is that this device will include their new YOUM display technology.

It could be that Samsung's YOUM display still isn't ready for high-volume mass production, so they have to create a niche product to get the tech out there, just as they did with the Galaxy Round. Hopefully we will know something more than conjecture at their Unpacked event on September 3rd.

It looks terribly confusing to use. You know you're going to be pressing the sides every time you pick it up. This is one of those times where just because it can be made doesn't mean it should be made.

Agreed. Still... this type of device needs to get made before we can get the cool, "billfold" style folding display smartphones of the future. ;)
