Safe to clean SD card?

So my sd card is cluttered to the brink with data from apps I uninstalled. Is it safe to just delete everything except backups from TI, and my media? Is there anything to look out for? I plan to do this as I update to Gingerbread and Liberty for it, which I'm not sure how to do. If anyone has straight forward instructions, they will be appreciated!

It is safe. Move media, pics, and any nandroid back-ups you have. Move your Titanium app/data back-ups, but you might want to just run a new batch back-up afterwards, rather than moving those back on.

Files the phone needs will be put back on automatically. Also, as you run apps, they will deposit the necessary files.
