running a baseline pre-app install

I am looking for a good app for creating baselines for system performance. I am always installing/removing and testing the newest apps...

I would primarily be using this to grab a baseline before installing applications and another check after app installs. This would quickly weed out any suspect apps.

Looking for an app recommendation or a process in which to accomplish something similar.
