rumors of iphone to verizon tomorrow...

Some phones just aren't for all people and sometimes a persistent problem can quickly sway an opinion.

I had heard so many good things about Blackberries and wanted one..... 4 BBs in less than thirty days and I decided never again.

I love my droid and it works well for me, maybe you just got a couple bad ones.

"Verizon to get Iphone" Ive heard that for years.

Plus I had an iPhone, i will never go back. You'll miss multitasking and trust me iPhone apps crash. I've had Iphone 3g and 3gs, and let me tell you Android OS is more stable, and can do a lot more.

Wth my Droid, if i dont like something, I am able to change it, I am able to get a software to change it. You'll miss it...

LOL. Who in their right mind would go from a phone with an 854x480 3.7" screen to a 320x480 3.6" screen? The pixels on the iPhone are HUGE by comparison, screw that, I could NEVER downgrade.

The first iPhone to become available on Verizon will have much better specs than the current 3gs.

Yes it's suppose to be far better then the 3gs from what i understand, but again all i've heard is speculation. We should find out tomorrow more about the new devices that should be coming out in the next year.

I'm not saying I will get one, but it does have some promising features if the rumors about it are true. Plus it will be on verizon. While the droid is a really awesome phone, not everyone like the learning curve (while ot much of one for me, i know many that had it). People will like what they like, i've never once said i hated the iphone, i just hate at&t. :)

My biggest beef with Apple (also the great strength of Android) is that they have everything on lockdown. You can't customize, you can use different software, its always iTunes, any fixes to the phone need to be done by Apple, all software changes are painful to come by (my perspective knowing several iPhone users, I've never owned one). You are locked into their framework exclusively. Granted, they do have some slick looking hardware. Hats off to their styling department. They did a great job.

The whole point of the Android OS is to be open, allow sharing, allow customization, allow change. This is what will drive the future of smart phones and why Apple is dissolving their exclusivity agreement with AT&T. They realize they need to be able to adapt quickly and their current products can't keep up. Maybe a few years down the road after they figure out how to compete with Android for the future of the smartphone market I would consider it. Until then, I'm all Android.

No, I would not go back to the iPhone right now, even if Verizon had it. I like my open Droid, and Android is gonna explode in the near future!

Gonna? It already has!

Over a million units in fourth quarter

The Droid really blew up the Android market and put it on the map. We're only gonna see more of it. If they get Nexus 1 straightened out(it's launch went dismally), Android will be a sure fire OS for smartphones for a long time coming.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the other major OSs on other phones continue to fall to the side.

I think Motorola is trying to keep customer desires in mind and I think this is going to play a big part in keeping Android front of the line.

Nope...keeping android no matter what. Im a devoted follower now...lol and besides even if the new iPhone has better specs than the Droid...you can bet your ass that the next Droid will top that if not go higher...because even if they're both on VZW, you have to keep in mind that Google is still in competition with Apple to sell there devices...

With all the devices coming out with Android, it's already looking to be the "sure fire" OS for smartphones.

I hope apple bring a kick butt iphone to verizon. I hope it is top shelf technology. Because that will help with competition; the next droid will do what it can to top it, so the droid 2 will just be that much better. So apple is a good phone and good rivalry.

iPhone on Verizon. Oh and 2.1 will be available by 1/22.

OK let's pretend it did happen, which I personally don't think it will. Right now I'm in absolutely no position to shell out another 500.00 on a phone and I'm right at the start of a 2 year extension, however, if after a year went by I might consider it.

I'm a Mac person and the idea of having everything on one platform is very appealing. It wouldn't be because of what the OP says and by the way OP, two words for you, User Error.

And it would have to be a damn good phone to pull me from the Droid. Eh, it's all fantasy talk anyway, none of it's going to happen.

Yes and for a long time to come.

Further up someone said they intend to beef the specs for iPhone by the time it gets to Verizon, but by the time it does get here Android will be firmly seated as the majority smartphone OS and as someone else said, the next version of Droid will be there to slap that version of iPhone in the face.

How many versions of iPhone have been put out to get it were it is now?

With the Droid being as nice as it is being first gen, it's only going to improve as time goes on.

I mean, look how quickly they pushed that initial OTA to fix problems.

I just don't think iPhone has a leg to stand on when going head to head against Droid.

Edit: All suspect to actual events!

I think we're gonna see Apple announce that the iTablet/iSlate will be coming to VZW... which means the iPhone won't be far behind.

They're cool devices, but I like Android and where it's headed. Android has to fail (for my needs anyway) before I move onto another device :)

sorry, but when a new phone starts to heat up so much that it burns to the touch, it's not user error. as soon as the verizon rep handled it, they were shocked at how hot it was and said replaced it on the spot without me saying anything about it.

when i need to dial out and get following "Activity Dialer (in process com.android.phone) is not responding", don't think it's user error

when the phone reboots randomly, don't think it's user error.

when you need to purchase a 3rd party software to integrate with outlook exchange, it's not user error.

when your non-gmail email accounts don't refresh properly, it's not user error.

those are my pet peeves - the other bells and whistles are pretty cool but i need a reliable phone with good quality sound and speakerphone and integrates with my business outlook and other email accounts.
