Right now Samsung has the "creme of the crop" when it comes to mobile processors. Their Exynos quad-core 4412 (4 x Cortex A9 @ 1.4 GHz) chip consistently outperforms the competition in many ways. Certainly the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core gives it a good run for its money, and is showing up in a larger variety of devices, but overall in terms of benchmarks and efficiency, Samsung has a real winner on their hands. Luckily for us, Samsung does not intend to rest on their laurels. There are some more rumors floating around about Sammy's "next big thing" in mobile chipsets, and it is called the Exynos 5440 (SSDK5440).
This chip is supposedly a Cortex A15 level quad-core SoC (system on a chip) using ARM’s big.LITTLE technology. There is no word on which devices Sammy plans to embue with this new power, but some of the industry scuttlebutt suggests maybe it could show up in the SGS4 or perhaps the GNote3. We also don't have any details on which GPU will accompany this beast, but of course we will keep our ears to the ground to bring you more info.
