According to the latest last minute rumors, Google's next version of Android will be called Lollipop and will be iteration 5.0.

To help refresh your memory, and/or rekindle some lost nostalgia, here's a quick list of the versions of Android:

  • Android 4.4 Kitkat
  • Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread

  • Android 2.0-2.1 Eclair
  • Android 1.6 Doughnut
  • Android 1.5 Cupcake
  • Android 1.1 (no dessert name)
  • Android 1.0 (no dessert name)
Obviously there's no way to confirm this news, except for the event which will start in about two hours...

Stay tuned as we bring you all the best intel from the event as fast as it hits the web.

If I remember right, I got the 2.0 update on my D1 while at the vzw store buying the phone. I may have gone iphone if vzw had it then. Thank goodness they didnt!!!!!

NOOOOOO. What happened to Licorice???? I can't say Lollipop in a technical board meeting and not get laughed at.

If the Google I/O conference is indication, it looks like Google is dropping the dessert naming convention from Android. The next iteration of Android (5.0) appears to be called simply Android L.

Yea well if they put a giant L on the front lawn at Google, I'll kick it down and put up my own lollipop! :P

No, I don't know what you mean.

Google has always used "dessert" names. Microcrap has its own naming convention as well.
I think You already know what I mean and you mentioned it as well. But even you don't get it till now let me help you. I mean, I like google naming conventions more than Microsoft.:D
