and if I do permanent, is there a way to unroot from the app when i dont want to be rooted anymore?

Is it nessesary to back anything up or anything. If so, how?

You only need to back up stuff if you are going to flash a rom. In which case grab a copy of the d2 bootstrapper from the marketplace for 2$ or free from koush's website and use it to bootstrap cm recovery. From there you can make a nandroid backup.

Well I'm not ready to flash a rom yet so I guess I'm fine for now. I just want the features and apps the I can't have unrooted.
What things can I do rooted that I can't do stock? (Besides roms)

You can now take screenshots, which I use quite frequently here on df. Also you can tether, freeze bloat, overclock. The list goes on.

Agreed. My gf's D2 is stock rooted. I have Jrummy's OC app, Root Explorer, Wireless Tether (new one), Cachemate, and Drocap2 installed on her's. Waiting for an easier way to boot into recovery (or SP) before flashing anything to her phone.
