Rooting Droid X not updating past Android 2.2

hey guys, so I rooted my phone using z4root awhile ago, but upon seeing a friend's android version 2.3 I realized that my phone is still stuck on 2.2 I don't get on the forums much, so they is probably a good explanation but can someone tell me why it is not updating and what to do about it? any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Did you delete or freeze any apps?

Just download and install the 2 part rooted GB files. You can't root the OTA GB anyway

no I haven't deleted any apps. I just installed wifi tether.

What does this mean? What does rooted GB files mean, and where can I get them?

And ya I figured I just can't do an OTA update when I'm rooted. But can you just explain what I can do to update? thanks

If you want to lose root, you can sbf back to stock Froyo and get the update.

If you want to have rooted GB, you can use Droid 2 bootstrap and install the TBH rooted GB files.
