Rom flashing problems

Okay to start I am rooted and haven't had any ROM running before my recovery is revolutionary cwm 4.0.1.4
Every time I try to flash I get am SD card error or I am told it worked and I get stuck at white HTC screen.
Also when I have tried to flash other recoveries I will not over write revolutionary help me please

Do you have the .zip files on the root of the SD (not in a folder)?
