Rezound and Handcent on lock screen

I know to get the # of texts in handcent unread to pop up you have to use a widget not the icon but on my lock screen how do I get the number of unread texts to show up just like if i had the "messages" app on the lock screen?

Personalize, display, lock screen shortcuts, assign handcent to messaging icon? I put Heywire on mine.

I did that and it shows up but it doesn't have the number on top icons even if I have a text it's just the blank hand sent icon
