Recently HTC decided to allow us to flash boot images with an unlocked bootloader alone so the consensus was that their was no longer really a need to achieve S-Off on the HTC One. The reality is that we need S-Off to achieve the proper SuperCID. The CID of 111111111 allows for you to flash any RUU to your device. This means you can flash the developer edition RUU that was just released. You will also be able to flash the Google Experience RUU as soon as it is available. This eliminates the need for you to wait on your carrier to release their build. The method is pretty simple you can run commands in ADB or run them directly from your phone with terminal emulator. S-Off does mean Security Off. It will be easier to seriously mess up your device with S-Off so be very careful.
