Remapping the menu key?

Hello,

My Droid 2 global was interpreting a continuous touch input in the upper left corner, so i took it to a service in my city and they replaced 3 touch screens, and they managed to stop the continuous input, but now they disabled the whole left area above (including) the menu (settings) softkey. (the one to the left of the home)

Is there anyway to remap that shortcut key to the search (magnifier glass) button? including any mods, roots or anything else?
I can live with having to rotate my screen everynow and then when something is in that area, but i kind of need that menu key, isn't that right? :)

Thank you,
Sebastian

You can use Button Remapper to remap or Button Savior to bypass the hard keys. Both require root access.though.
