Just a thought... Contact the convention organizer and have them audio/video record the event, and put it up on their website for interested parties to access freely/purchase.
We are doing this (via professionals) at our school events, so that hundreds of parents don't annoy each other by trying to do their own recording and blocking other parent's view at events.
And the professionals do a much better job at it
