Recent places in navigation

How come recent places in the Google Navigation seems to be whatever Google wants to be there instead of actual recent places? I have places show up that I haven't been to in a month, but something I went to a day or two ago doesn't.
Its annoying when your out of town, and going to a lot of the same places, yet your recent destinations show items from weeks ago back home, and not items from your trip.

Apparently that's just how the program works. Mine does it to and I was doing a search to find out why and ran across this thread which really didn't give any answer. Guess, it means there is a fix to it.
