really that bad?!?!?!

i went to a verizon store today and played around with 2 droid 2's today and was VERY unimpressed. the screen response on both phones was horrible at best. while trying to scroll, they lagged so badly that i kept opening up apps that i wasn't trying to open. i literally couldn't scroll through the app list because it would 'stick' and open up whatever app i was touching when i tried to scroll. scrolling through the 'home screens' was just as laggy.....almost as if they didn't want to scroll at all....also the touch buttons themselves were very unresponsive. what's weird is that BOTH phones behaved the same....guess i really expected a lot more.

this was early in the day so i know that the phones weren't sitting there for hours and being handled by tons of people, but it certainly left me scratching my head. i was actually thinking of returning my Dx but NOT after seeing that!

how has everyone elses experience been so far? tell me the droid 2 is NOT really as bad as what i saw today!

If I were Steve Jobs, I could easily go into a Verizon store and within minutes download enough apps and widgets from the market to make that thing CRAWL.

Next time you try it out, either uninstall all the apps and widgets or just reboot it into safe mode.

I haven't had any problems so far I played with the x the other day it lagged out on me too but I need my keyboard so I bought this one

I had the same problem when trying out two Droid 2's at the Verizon Store in the Burlington Mall, MA.

I installed the Multitouch Visible Test app and the blue and red dots were jumping all over the screen.

This was around 12 PM today and the store opened at 10 AM. I didn't take a look at what apps were installed, so it could have been filled with apps from other people.

i was at the store within an hour of them opening and there were 3 people in there....not at all like the launch of the Dx, so i'm pretty sure they weren't handled a lot. i did try and reboot one but it would only charge and not restart..wth?

Well I have no idea what it going on. So far a couple of folks I know got a Droid X and installed Launcher Pro and they FLY. My guess is the same can be said of the Droid 2. The stock launcher/Blur is garbage IMO and should immediately be replaced with Launcher Pro to get the real performance of these devices.

Weird it wouldn't shut down.

Cell phone store employees like to mess up new demo phones before the store opens.

it shut down....just wouldn't restart. i'm going back tomorrow and try again. though i like the much larger screen on my Droid x, it's worth looking at the Droid 2....i hope ;)

I have a D2 and it's not laggy for me? Blur is the worst thing to hit these new devices, and should definitely be replaced by home apps where the dev's have a clue what they are doing. Apparently the Motorola Dev's have no clue what Android is considering they try to get us to set up backup assistant, just the fact they even include it in the first place is retarded, just shows they are trying to soak up every buck they can. Visual Voice Mail as well is pointless with Google Voice. They try to charge monthly fees for something that Google/Android include for free, it's ridiculous.

It wouldn't restart!?! That's wild. Obviously something strange going on there.

Cell phone stores should have a banner set up over the display phones: THESE DEMO PHONES ARE COMPLETELY F'D

i kinda guessed (hoped) that not all droid 2's could be that laggy...just didn't make sense to me.
i own the vibrant also, and it lags like crazy at times too........why, oh why, do they have to put their crappy, laggy, ui's on top of vanilla android???

verizon charging for visual voicemail is crazy, at least on tmobile it's free!
