I had this and it turned out to be a piece of lint. Is it white in there by any chance? Not to say lint can't be dark.
My husband took a fine drill bit and carefully twirled it to grab the lint and pull it up.
Had this happen on my old Razr, my wife spilled coffee in the truck and we didn't notice it got onto the AUX cable and crusted on. Plugged the cable into my phone and it transferred inside the port, compressed air worked for me. Awesome idea about the drill bit though
