Mods, please delete or move as necessary-or point me in the direction of an applicable thread if possible?
New to smartphones altogether, (as well as androids) and acronyms describing how to fix issues with them:-(
Got the unlocked, (previous on att service from the apps?) Got it on walmarrts unlimited sim card for one month trouble free. Love the phone BTW! Had a prompt that there was an update, (yeah I cringed seconds prior to running it)...once the phone rebooted after the update I now have no phone service or internet.
With a prompt at start up of "The SIM card is from an unknown source".
Has the previous service provider "relocked" the phone?
If I restore the phone to it's original settings will it then "lock" the phone to it's original carrier?
I tried the customer support down in Miami and after a few hours on a landline they can't seem to help, (stating the sim card from them should be working. I have elderly parents that rely on me and this phone-any and all help is so greatly appreciated. :hail:
System version: 98.18.94.XT907.VZ.en.US
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: SM_BP_10132.021.32.80P

Please...anyone?
It has VZ stamped on the phone with a&tt apps.
If I restore it to the factory settings would this cancel out the unlock that had been done, (or did the update already do this). Sorry for the noob terminology, (or lack of)....

Have you tried getting Wal-Mart to replace the SIM card?
Have you tried power down the phone, remove the SIM card, power up the phone with no SIM card for about a minute, power down the phone, insert the SIM card, power the phone back up?

Thanks for the reply!
I doubt walmart will replace the card-the customer service there is so poor, (via Miami call center).
I did try what you suggested and it still gives me the prompt of "Sim card from unknown source".
The seller has requested i send it back to him and he can unlock it for me.
So what would i do in the future for upgrading software if I'm unable to do so without it crashing?
