Razr HD to laptop via UBS cable won't stay connected

I want to connect my Razr HD to my laptop via the USB cable, to move files back and forth. The connection stays for about two minutes, then the phone disconnects. The it acts like it tries to reconnect several time, but can't. What am I missing? Is there a setting on the phone I should turn on or off?

Do you have the Device in usb or mass storage mode? You don't have to have it set, well, that depends on what you're doing.. How does the cable fit? Is it getting a tad loose?

Cable connections are good and tight.

The Razr doesn't give me an option to connect as a mass storage device. (My old first generation Driod did.)

When it's connected it should give you the option in a pull down I believe.... If I'm not mistaken..

The RAZR's don't do that.

Did you install the Motorola App Maverick??
I assume you've tried several ports. Any chance to try another computer to eliminate the phone as the problem?
