Hey guys, I just remembered about this cool little guy, and realized that it's supposed to be coming out here pretty soon!

Droid R2D2

Opinions? Information?

Wondering what the pricing is gonna be, or at least when we'll get an idea about it?

I just looked at the gallery, nothing about the actual functioning. Question, if there's nothing different about the performance, couldn't you just go to skin it.com and get the R2D2 sticker?

Well, the R2D2 model seems to have a reskinned keyboard as well, and it may just be me, but is the outside chrome a bit different looking too?

Because its more than just the outside. We already know it'll have a themed dock as well as themed live wallpapers and boot animation. Both the wallpapers and boot animation were available for a very short time after being unlocked, but they're now unavailable. Yes, the hardware itself is unchanged.

very gimmicky.... next, a Darth Vader Droid.... a Rebel fighter Orange Droid? I still think simply making your own skin or sticker pack, getting a Starwars wallpaper, and switching out your app icons with better cut or desktop visualizer is cheaper in the long run.

I tell people mine is a special FSU themed Droid 2 as it is for the same reason

Well, since "Droid" is licensed from LucasFilms and the short-handed version of the Droid 2 is D2, it makes sense that they are making an R2D2 phone. I doubt they'll make any more Star Wars themed phones but use this as a one-off deal. Unless, of course, its super popular.

Wellp, I'm due for an upgrade on the 24th of this month, hopefully they'll have a released a price on the R2D2 by then so I can decide if I'm going to wait for it, or just go with the normal D2

extended battery r2d2

Will they be making an extended battery cover for it?
I use the extended battery and the problem is that with the extended battery you have to use a different battery cover meaning it would be pointless to go for the r2d2 version.
