quick silence????

is there a way to quickly silence the Droid if your phone is ringing (like receiving a message, notification or call)??? I would like to not pull my phone out of my belt phone holder and wipe the screen.

Just push the side volume button

That works from incoming calls, but I can't seem to find a way to silence notifications like text messages or e-mails on the Droid 2. Any thoughts? I really would like a way to silence those quickly also.

The setting "only when not in silent mode" allows the volume buttom to turn both ring tone and vibrate off with volume button.

I'm looking for a solution for this as well.. I have a song for my text but if I'm talking to the boss I should be able to just reach in my pocket and press a button to silence it... Every phone I've ever had has had that feature i can't belive this is an issue with the droids!!!!
