What is the difference between the Droid and android. Are they the same thing? The only reason I ask is because. I am interested in doing Rome and the Roms are listed under android and I have a Droid. This is my first smart phone so please forgive my ignorance.

Android is an operating system, like windows or linux. the Droid is the name for the phone made by motorola that runs the android operating system. Sometimes on this site and others people will shorten the term android to droid which can get confusing.
