Question for previous/current iPhone users

Just wondering, does the iPhone have a program similar to Shop Savvy or Compare Shopper, which uses the camera to scan a bar code?

Thought I heard that the iPhone couldn't read bar codes for some reason, but I'm not sure.

i dont have one, but i have friends who do, and im pretty sure they can.
and there are tons of apps for that in the app store, so i believe so

I couldn't understand why an iPhone wouldn't be able to read bar codes....

my brother downloaded an app off the itunes store and he can read barcode and qr codes.
