question about flashing kernels

creaky

Active Member
I've flashed a number of ROMs on my X and am interested in flashing kernels on my GN. My two questions are:

1) Do I need to flash the kernel at the same time as the ROM? Or can I flash the kernel any time?

2) When I flash the kernel in recovery, do I need to wipe anything?

Thanks!

1) you want to boot a ROM at least once before flashing a kernel. but as long as a rom is compatible with a kernel, you can switch them out

2) cache and davlik cache. and wouldnt hurt to make a nandroid in case your phone really doesnt like it

Many thanks, Abe!

One more question: Reverting to a nandroid backup will take me back to the kernel that was being used when the backup was made, correct?
