[Q] Dinc Power Button Unresponsive

My wife's 16month old completely stock Droid Incredible just started suffering from an unresponsive power button, has anyone else experienced this and has rooting it and installing a custom ROM allowed for the possibility to reroute the power button to the trackball ?

If you root you can install a mod that allows you to wake the phone with the trackball. But could the button just be stuck? Maybe some dirt got in there? I'd try some compressed air first.

Is she still running 2.2 or did she install the upgrade to 2.3.4?

It's 2.3 but the button isn't stuck, it presses fine it's just unresponsive - tried all of the typical things, battery pull, power down/up and nothing - been trying to convince her to let me root it forever now, looks like I will get my chance
